Assistant Director

Job Description

Reports to: Director

Job Summary

Provides a safe learning environment and quality education programs for children.

Responsible for the effective operation of the child development center in the absence of the

Director and/or owner, which includes recruiting and managing staff, establishing and meeting enrollment and revenue objectives, providing ongoing communication with parents, and cost management of the center.

Responsibilities

  • Attend work regularly and on time
  • Be prepared daily to engage with and teach the children in your care
  • Create and maintain a warm, loving environment
  • Create weekly lesson plans that include a daily art activity and a monthly newsletter
  • Maintain CQI goals and child portfolios according to FOCUS requirements
  • Arrange the environment in a way that promotes interest and engagement in designated centers.
  • Use and fill out properly daily logs for parent communication
  • Organize and maintain change table supplies for the children; keep track of supplies dropped off
  • Adhere to diaper-changing policy (diapers are checked and changed every 2 hours at least); set up individual potty-training goals and plans with each family to accomplish the skill
  • Create and maintain a healthy form of communication with families and establish a solid relationship
  • Take all infant toddler training required; if obtaining a lead teaching position is desired, you must take ECECD 115 and possibly the assessment class.
